Cape Verde car hire - Santiago Island
4x4 car hire in Santiago enables you to get to those magic places other tourists cannot reach. We offer rental cars for 3 days or more. A 4x4 is well suited to the terrain, to get off road to deserted beaches and places to explore. They also offer more ground clearance than normal vehicles, which can be useful even on ordinary roads. The advantage of booking before you go is that you don't waste precious time trying to organise car rental when you get there, when you may find that only the expensive cars at nearly 100 euros a day are left. We have looked around to find reasonably priced car rental from suppliers we know. Unfortunately, cars are expensive to buy and maintain in Santiago due to shipping costs and high import duties and this is reflected in rental prices.
Pick up rental car at the airport
The car can be waiting for you at the airport when you arrive, and you deliver it back to the airport when you leave. Be up and running from the start.
Pick up rental car at Prainha
You can also pick up your car and drop it off at Prainha, near Praia (capital of Santiago)

Note: All prices subject to change, exchange rates, and availability. Because everything has to be imported by sea or air to the Cape Verde islands, it is possible that items on the car may be missing or broken. Hire cars are quite booked up, and if your size is not available, there is generally no free subsitution of a larger model.
Guest comments on car hire
Despite having visited Santiago on several occasions, hiring a car meant we got to all sorts of different spots exactly as and when we wanted. We travelled from Praia to Tarrafal at our own speed, and could stop to enjoy the mountain views and banana plantations. We discovered many new parts of the island. We would recommend a 4x4 because if you do end up off the beaten track, you will be pleased to have the ground clearance. C from London
