This spacious privately-owned rental villa is in a very priviledged
secluded position in the mature Murdeira
Beach Resort, the first of its type to be built in the Cape
Verde Islands. It is semi-detached, and a bit like a Doctor Who
box; it is much bigger than it looks! About 300 yards from the Murdeira
resort's 31m pool, it is close, but out of earshot. In the front
line, it looks directly out onto the turquoise Murdeira Bay and
onto Monte Leon, Cape Verde's mini rock of Gibraltar. By having
many windows on several sides and high ceilings, this holiday villa
is very light, bright and spacious with lots of outdoor living space.
The villa suits those that like to get away from it all, without
being away from everything. You can hear the sound of the ocean
by day and night, even from your bed, yet have access to the island's
capital or main tourist resort within 10 minutes. The bay is undeveloped
to either side of the resort. It is an unique opportunity for guests
to enjoy long beachside walks and swims or just enjoy outdoor living. To either side of the villa are private villas.

private bathroom with bath, shower, WC and basin, fitted wardrobe and huge balcony

and see the ocean from the bedroom. Ground floor: Double bedroom
with shutters, hairdryer, fan, and shower room next door. Beds can be made up into singles or king-size doubles; please advise at time of booking.
Bathrooms - 2
Ground floor: Shower room next to bedroom and living room.

you don't feel like cooking, there is a restaurant by the swimming
pool and ocean within 300 yards. The seating area is near the window
by the front patio. Two comfortable futons from Notting Hill with thick mattresses;
a two-seater,and a three-seater. Plus a 3 seater sofa, making seating for
8. With
two French windows, the high ceiling, the unencumbered sea views, and the door window to the
roof terrace on the first floor, the room is very light and airy. Oiled wood shutters on both French windows. The futons with their cushions add bright splashes of colour.
Outside areas designed and equipped for outdoor living
Large patio and terrace facing west on ground level. Outdoor table with parasol which seats four just outside sitting room French doors. Outside shaded dining "room" to the side of the house with one "wall" made of oiled mahogany with a door. The wood adds warm hues, and this area keeps warm at all times of day - should you be too hot, there is a single/double door which can be opened to enable more air flow. A teak round table and four chairs (two of these turn into steamers for relaxing at ground floor level). Two chaise longues with mattresses for use on downstairs
patio. Huge sunny roof terrace, with panoramic views across Murdeira bay, with two teak
benches and teak table. Two
teak chaise longues with mattresses. Outside shower with huge shower head and outdoor sink and work surface. Stainless barbecue on wheels. Or use the electric grill and plug it in to power in outside dining room or roof terrace. Flower
beds with hibiscus, oleander, aloe, cactus, papaya and a fledgling bougainvillea. Store room with washing machine, external washing lines in outside area behind outside dining room. Large balcony outside bedroom on first floor with teak table and 2 chairs. Eat every meal outside - breakfst on the east facing first floor balcony, lunch on the roof terrace and have dinner on the terrace or the outdoor dining room.

Comments
The resort was built some eight years ago and is well established
with mains water, its own water storage tanks, electricity generators,
roads, security and infrastructure. The villa was the first on Sal
to be purchased by British people, and has been let for 4 years.
Cape Verde Jetaway's comment
Villas in the Cape Verdes are for those customers experienced in self catering and are independent and resourceful. If you would like everything to be laid on, like in a 5 star hotel, it would be better to stay in a hotel outside the Cape Verde Islands as there are no 5 star hotels by international standards. Because the islands are in the Tropics it is not uncommon to find the odd ant or cockroach, but these are easily removed with the right spray. Shopping is much more primitive than other places, and can be fun, but time consuming as there is no Waitrose, and items can run out if they have to be imported. If you enjoy buying fish direct from the jetty, and nosing round in tiny stores and finding the vegetable market, and meeting the locals, you will have a great time. Ask us about food starter pack, wine/beer delivery to the villa, and a shopping trip.
Have a picnic on the Murdeira beach
Only 100 yards away are a variety of little beaches, which you
can often have to yourself. Pack up a few bottles from the fridge
and enjoy life at the ocean's edge. (Picnic
crockery and keep cool bag provided). For those wishing to catch supper, pack a rod as the fish are plentiful if you know how to catch them (we provide instructions!).
Restaurants near the villa
The closest restaurant is within Murdeira, at the water's edge near the swimming pool. There is a wide choice of restaurants in Santa Maria (10 mins by taxi, bus, car), or Espargos (10 mins by taxi, bus, car), or Palmeira (20 mins by taxi, buses, car), or Pedra de Lume (15 mins by taxi, car).
Comments from villa guests
Well, back at work and dreaming of sun, sand & sea: we had
a really great time - everything certainly met and exceeded our
expectations! the villa was delightful - a real home from home -
and was spotlessly clean when we arrived. We will certainly be recommending
the villa to all our friends so hopefully you'll get a couple of
extra bookings!! We are now converts to the Cape Verde lifestyle
- and very envious of your lovely home in the sun!! A from Kent.
We had a fab time in Sal, the villa was perfect for us! J from
IOM
The villa has a lovely feel about it - very clean and well organised - very well stocked - high standard of furniture and crockery. D from Chesham
The villa - it was really good. It was perfect, big, spacious,
clean, everything there. I saw the German dishwasher and said wow
- how did you do that? I was pleased to see European food in the
shop. N from Cambridge.
We had a lovely time in Sal, the accommodation was fantastic. The
holiday was really different - as you said in the literature. It
reminded us of a island off the west coast of Scotland but with
fantastic weather!!! Bleak landscape but a small and very friendly
community! We loved the minibus thing - great value and we found
that if you stood by the roundabout we were often picked up for
free as hitch hikers! K from Inverness.
We really enjoyed your house, large rooms, large terraces, nice
furniture (teak on the roof terrace, futons etc). Beautiful view
and very calm ... exactly what we were looking for! E from Belgium.
First class, clean, tidy, well organised. Two bathrooms were great, views good, quiet spot. Very functional, cooking stuff good.
The maid came as appointed and was good. B popped in. What was nice was that neither was obtrusive, something we have experienced at villas in the past. The house instruction notes - these were far the best we have ever had. M from Glos.
We really enjoyed our stay at your villa, everything was excellent.
Should you want to use us as a reference to any potential clients
wanting to rent the Villa we would be delighted to provide some
very positive feed back. I from Cleveland.
We had a great time, the house was ideal for us, the beaches were
lovely, and the meals at the restaurant were tasty and good value.
J from Straford upon Avon.
Still wish our stay on Sal had been longer!!! We loved your villa and had a wonderful time - very peaceful and relaxing. Nice to get away from everything. D from Bexhill on Sea
We both had a great time. The villa is beautiful, great space and equipped with everything we needed. H from Cork
Perfect, just what we wanted. If found it amazing, it was nice to see Sal like that. My little boy loved it. So peaceful and lovely. We found plenty to do. C from St Neots
Things to do nearby
In addition to the restaurant by the swimming pool and ocean in
Murdeira, there is a bar right at the water's edge. On the island,
there are many restaurants and bars - many have open air dining,
some are right on the beach, or even built out into the sea.
